WHO IS YOUR FRIEND?

“Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” Proverbs 27:17

In a bid to build a network, today i started on a journey that i’m never coming back from, a journey that God willing will be called ‘the game changer’

On my way home yesterday, i passed by a group of people grumbling noisily, being a man of peace, i wanted to flee but my conscience pushed me to closer to the scene, it’s a girl on the floor, now i’m even more concerned, because what probably could a girl so beautiful have done to deserve such treatment? I ask the guy next to me what was going on and he shouts, “kano akawala kabbi” translating, “this girl is a thief”, then he goes ahead and narrates the whole story.

You see, the story was that, this girl Hindu (not real name) with a friend had tricked him into bed that afternoon and the friend who was no where to be seen had disappeared with his money (apparently 3 millions), Hindu’s story on the other hand was that, she had been called by this friend to do a quickie for a whole lot of money, she swore she only came for the gig. Fast forward, Hindu had been left into trouble by a friend (of course she misused the word because a friend cannot do such to you)

Today, many of us have friends like this, friends that only mind them and not you, friendships that are one sided, friends that only call you for beer, clubbing, quickies, etcetera. You need to run away from such people, you need to call off such friendships because they only drain you.

Look here, a friend is “a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection, typically exclusive of sexual or family relations.” The word is ‘mutual’, be around people that treat you the same, befriend people that are able to come to your rescue in time of need, people that feel for you just like you do for them, friends that are developmental, people you can count on, people with whom you can dream together.

Now turn to your life, when look deep, do you have such friends? If not, wake up! If yes, my friend, hold on to them tight.

Hindu spent her night in cells, i haven’t checked on her since then.
